Peaky Blinders film to shoot in September
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has confirmed that the film version of the period drama is eyeing a September start.
At the recent premiere of his new drama This Town, Knight also confirmed that Cillian Murphy would return to star in the feature iteration, telling Birmingham World: "He definitely is returning for it. We're shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth."
West Midlander Knight has been the driving force behind Birmingham’s Digbeth Loc. Studios with the new studio at the heart of a growing creative hub in the city. Knight’s This Town used the facility when filming took place in late 2022/early 2023, with many scenes also shooting on location locally.
Peaky Blinders ran for six series from 2013 on BBC Two then BBC One, receiving widespread critical acclaim and numerous awards. Set in Birmingham, it explores the the lives of the eponymous criminal gangs in the period straight after the First World War.
