KFTV Talk: Filming in Norway

Black Widow in Norway Our international sister site, KFTV, is hosting a Zoom Talk sponsored by the Norwegian Film Commission, on Wednesday 22 June at 16:00pm UK time.

 

The session is about filming in Norway, with leading local and international production figures talking about their experiences shooting major film and TV projects in the country, including Black Widow, Dune and No Time to Die.

The Talk will be moderated by Chris Evans, News & Locations Editor of KFTV, World of Locations magazine, International Production Guide and Screen International, and will cover locations, permits, crew, logistics and incentives as well as provide useful insights and anecdotes from production figures about how they put together major films and TV series, including Black Widow, Dune, No Time to Die and Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One.

Steve Røyset, Location Manager

Steve is based on the west coast of Norway and has worked as a location manager for shoots nationwide around all of Norway. These include major film and TV projects like “Dune”, “Marvel – Black widow”, James Bond “No time to die” and Amazon’s “Grand Tour”.
 

Meghan Beaton, Film Commissioner for Norway

Meghan has established the newly independent national foundation, with the remit to support and advance the production of international feature film and television in Norway. 
 

Engaging national stakeholders and international partners, representing the commission on a full range of communication activities.  Building upon over a decade as an account director within branding and advertising, Meghan has delivered strategic design and communication services to clients ranging in scale and across all sectors, utilising and leveraging creative opportunities, establishing fruitful partnerships and creating positive results.  Adding to this a decade in the film and creative sector, producing film, theatre and festivals.

Per Henry Borch, line producer from True North

Per Henry (PH) Borch has worked with production of feature films and commercials since 1994. His aim is to get the best result out of any budget or script. He takes an active role in the whole process of production, and works closely with all people involved. Has worked on both sides of the table with service productions abroad as well as domestic productions.Has experience filming on all continents, and has worked/travelled in 80 countries, specializing in working on remote locations. His latest projects include Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning - Part One, No Time to Die, Dune, Black Widow and Tenet.
 

Jamie Lengyel, Supervising Location Manager and Unit Production Manager

Jamie Lengyel is a hugely experienced film & TV location manager and now unit production manager. Current 2022 UPM work is for Disney’s Marvel streaming show Loki Season 2, as well as additional UK photography for Thor Love & Thunder (Dir. Taika Waititi), whilst 2021 positions for Marvel Studios included Production Managing 2nd Units for Dr Strange into the Multiverse (Dir. Sam Raimi), The Marvels (Dir. Nia DaCosta) and streaming show Moon Knight, as well as additional UK photography for Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (Dir. Destin Cretton) and Eternals (Dir. Chloe Zhao).

Other recent roles include Supervising Locations for Black Widow (Dir. Cate Shortland, Marvel Studios) in the UK, Norway, Budapest and Morocco, and for Sony’s Men in Black: International (Dir. F. Gary Gray) in the UK, Morocco, Southern Italy and New York. For Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame (Dirs. Joe & Anthony Russo, Marvel Studios) Lengyel was Unit Production Manager for the UK, as well as a location scout and manager for VFX plate units worldwide, with locations in Chile, Brazil, the Philippines, Iceland, and Svalbard in the Norwegian Arctic. 

Jamie Lengyel’s early career was as a location scout, manager and production manager in high-end UK television drama, including award-winning BBC period mini-series Cranford, The Way We Love Now and Love in a Cold Climate, and independent films such as The Duchess and Green Zone. He also has a wealth of location experience in TV commercials and music promos and is a member of BAFTA and the Production Guild.
