The Marlow Murder Club S2 begins filming this week
The second series of UKTV Original drama The Marlow Murder Club begins filming at the end of this week (31 May) in and around the town of Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
The 6 x 60’ drama is a co-commission with co-producer and US broadcaster MASTERPIECE and is produced by Monumental Television in association with ITV Studios.
The second series is once again penned by creator Robert Thorogood, on whose novels the show is based, along with writers Lucia Haynes and Julia Gilbert, who will write a murder mystery each that spans a two-episode instalment.
With three main cases in the series, episodes one and two will be an adaptation of Robert’s second book, Death Comes to Marlow, with the other episodes being new, standalone stories.
The drama centres on retired archaeologist Judith Potts (played by Samantha Bond) who joins up with fellow Marlow residents Becks Starling (Cara Horgan) and Suzie Harris (Jo Martin) to solve a new series of bizarre local crimes.
The executive producers for Monumental Television are Debra Hayward, Alison Owen and Alison Carpenter. Susanne Simpson is executive producer for MASTERPIECE. The series will be directed by Steve Barron and produced by Serena Cullen; Steve Barron and writer Thorogood also serve as executive producers.
Hayward said: “We loved collaborating with Robert on The Marlow Murder Club, and we couldn’t have asked for a better cast to bring to life his unlikely amateur detectives. We are thrilled that the first series went down so well with audiences, and we can’t wait to return to the charming town of Marlow for series two.”
