Rainmark Films’ major new drama, The Frankenstein Chronicles, is set to star Sean Bean as Inspector John Marlott.                                                                                                     Â
The six-parter has been written by Benjamin Ross and Barry Langford, and reimagines the Frankenstein myth as a period drama, set in Regency London in 1827. Ross will also direct. The executive producers are Tracey Scoffield and Frank Doelger.
We first detailed the new series on Production Intelligence a month ago – it is the first original commission from ITV Encore and comes from Rainmark Films and producer David Tanner.
With funding from Northern Ireland Screen, shooting is due to take place in NI from early next year. ITV’s director of drama, Steve November, said of the commission: “The Frankenstein Chronicles is an epic re-working of one of literature and cinema’s most iconic stories. We’re delighted to be working with Benjamin Ross, Barry Langford and the team at Rainmark Films with the vision to bring Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein back to life.”
