Some casting news this week regarding the 3D animated feature version of Postman Pat being lined up for 2013: Stephen Mangan will star as Pat while David Tennant, Jim Broadbent and Rupert Grint will also be part of a star-studded voice cast.

Mangan, the star of comedy series Episodes says: “I”m thrilled to be playing the world”s best-known postman in his big-screen debut. However, when I told my 3-year-old son I was going to be Postman Pat, he said: ‘No you”re not, dad, don”t be silly.””

Harry Potter star Rupert Grint is also excited, “I used to watch Postman Pat when I was a small boy. My brother and sisters all did at some stage. Postman Pat is one of those British symbols, I suppose – you are totally familiar with him and his cat, Jess even if you”ve never watched the series.”

The film”s full title is Postman Pat: The Movie – You Know You”re The One. The plot will see Pat leave the quaint village of Greendale for “the big city”, where he enters a television talent contest.
