Bonneville & Anderson in Viceroy’s House

Director Gurinder Chadha is lining up a stellar cast for her next feature, Viceroy’s House.

The Fall star Gillian Anderson joins W1A and Downton Abbey lead Hugh Bonneville in the feature, which begins shooting in India in late August.

The film explores life inside Viceroy’s House in Delhi, in the lead up to the Partition of India in 1947; Chadha is calling the shots from a screenplay she co-wrote with Paul Mayeda Berges and Moira Buffini, with BBC Films‘ Christine Langan on board to executive produce. Pathé is backing the project.

Known as Viceroy’s House when it was completed in 1929, the 340 room palace building is set within the vast 320 acre President Estate, and is to this day still the home of the President of India.

There are more details on the feature on Production Intelligence, including the producers and casting director; much of the crew will be sourced locally in India.
