BBC Two’s Quacks enters pre-production

Rev creator James Wood”s latest comedy offering is now in pre-production with shooting set to begin in November.

Quacks centres on four young medical pioneers in the 1840s – a time when the operating theatre was a dangerous arena of one-upmanship and spectacle – who are fighting not just to save lives but also to beat their rivals and make their mark on the world.

The 6 x 30 has been developed from a pilot and stars Mathew Baynton, Rory Kinnear, Tom Basden and Lydia Leonard.

Lucky Giant, the comedy arm of NBCUniversal International Studios, is making the show in association with the Wellcome Trust.

Wood”s adaptation of Evelyn Waugh”s Decline and Fall, also for BBC Two, completed filming a few weeks ago.

The writer is also part of the team behind Eleven Film”s Foreign Bodies for E4, which began shooting in Malaysia earlier this year.
