An early autumn shoot is currently on the cards for BBC One‘s World on Fire, a major new drama set during the Second World War.

The seven-part series comes from prolific producer Mammoth Screen and will span the first year of the conflict from the German invasion of Poland to the Battle of Britain.

Peter Bowker, whose credits include The A Word and Capital, has written the drama.

He said at the time of the commissioning news: “These are the stories of the ordinary people who shaped our world. Stories of loyalty and brutality, courage and fear, love and loss, hopes and dreams forged in extraordinary times.”

Bowker also executive produces alongside Damien Timmer, Marcus Wilson and Helen Ziegler for Mammoth Screen with Lucy Richer for the BBC.
