ITV orders Gone series 2
Eve Myles reprises role with Keeley Hawes joining ITV series
George Kay-penned drama Gone has landed a second series for ITV.
The six-parter is co-produced by Kay’s Observatory Pictures and New Pictures and will see Eve Myles return as ‘tenacious’ detective Annie Cassidy to investigate a new case.
She will be joined by Keeley Hawes who plays pre-eminent paediatric surgeon Ruth Manning, who comes into the crosshairs of Cassidy when it becomes apparent that, for the good of her patients, she could be hiding the dark truth about a series of historical crimes.
According to ITV, the first series of Gone eclipsed all streaming records on the broadcaster’s streamer ITVX and is one of the biggest new drama launches with 31m streams.
“We had a phenomenal response to Gone, which was testament to George Kay’s brilliant scripts, and we are delighted that George will bring the audience another series and a new case for Annie Cassidy,” said ITV’s director of drama Polly Hill.
The series is exec produced by Willow Grylls and Matt Sandford as well as George Kay. Production will be overseen for ITV by Hill.
Gone is partly inspired by Robert Murphy and Julie Mackay’s book To Hunt a Killer, which covers the real-life work of former detective superintendent Mackay and ITV crime correspondent Murphy, who both serve as consultants on the production.
The second series will premiere on ITV1 and STV and will be available on ITVX and STV Player.
Banijay Rights will handle international distribution for the series.
