John Bishop to host Sky comedy entertainment series

Stand-up show will profile some of the UK’s best loved comics

Drum Studios has landed a comedy entertainment series for Sky designed to showcase some of the UK’s best loved comics.

Hosted by comedian John Bishop, three-part John Bishop’s Comedy Night at The Coliseum will be recorded in front of a live audience at the iconic London venue this December and features a range of established stars, breakthrough acts and emerging talent across the comedy scene.

“There’s so much brilliant talent on the British comedy circuit at the moment, from the established names to the next generation coming through,” said Bishop. “I want this series to celebrate all of it and reflect what’s happening out there right now.”

John Bishop’s Comedy Night at The Coliseum will air on Sky in early 2027. It follows the successful launch of scripted sketch show Saturday Night Live UK on Sky 1, which has provided a platform for 12 emerging comedians and has a 22-strong writers’ room.

Sky has also played over 30 stand-up specials over the last three years including SNL UK members Larry Dean, Paddy Young and Ania Magliano, and established talent like Rob Beckett, Harry Hill and Frank Skinner.

John Bishop’s Comedy Night at The Coliseum was commissioned by Phil Edgar-Jones, executive director of unscripted originals at Sky, and Jamie Morris, Sky’s managing director of programming for Cécile Frot-Coutaz, chief executive of Sky Studios and chief content officer for Sky.

It is produced by Drum Studios which is part of Omnicom Media. The showrunner is Cameron Banks and the director is Chris Howe. Danny Carvalho and Andy Holland exec produce for Drum Studios with John Bishop and Lisa Thomas for Lola TV.
