C4 orders Andy and Kim Murray hotel docuseries

Our Scottish Hotel follows tennis champion and his wife as they transform the luxury hotel they bought in 2013

Rogan Productions is going behind the scenes of Kim and Andy Murray’s transformation of their luxury Scottish hotel in an upcoming docuseries for Channel 4.

Our Scottish Hotel is a 3 x 60-minute series that will track the creation of a new wing that will house two new restaurants at their Cromlix hotel. The show will have access to the former world tennis number one, his wife and their 80-strong team at the property.

Over nearly a year of risk, upheaval and relentless work, the show follows the project’s progress  and the challenge of delivering five-star hospitality while builders share the estate with staff and guests.

The renovation represents the couple’s biggest financial gamble since they bought the hotel more than a decade ago.

Our Scottish Hotel is produced by Rogan Scotland and was commissioned out of specialist factual by Emily Shields. Mark Hedgecoe, who joins STV Studios this month, is the executive producer, with Evie Greenstreet as shooting producer and Cailean Watt directing. BBC Studios will manage global sales.

Shields said: “Cromlix is a fascinating world to step inside, and this series offers a rare glimpse behind the scenes of a business where no detail is overlooked.

“Kim and Andy are embarking on an ambitious transformation, but at its heart this is a story about people: the team whose hard work brings Cromlix to life, and the shared desire to create something truly special.”

James Rogan, co-chief executive of Rogan Scotland, added: “What fascinated us was not simply the scale of the transformation, but how personal every decision became. From the food on the plate and the David Shrigley works on the walls, to the search for water beneath the estate, the series captures Kim and Andy’s contrasting instincts, ambitions and sense of humour.

“Cromlix is also the story of an extraordinary team, responding to each new challenge with ingenuity, pride and a determination to make every guest feel that nothing unusual is happening at all.”

Kim Murray said she was keen to document the changes she and her husband have been undertaking at Cromlix, including its new direction towards fine dining and wellness.

She continued: “Andy and I haven’t worked on anything together before, so that was a fascinating process – and a learning curve! I’ve loved shaping this building and estate into what’s now become a really thriving and much-loved Scottish business.”
