Curious Films to produce Boyzone reunion doc

Feature-length single to chart band’s comeback gigs following Sky hit Boyzone: No Matter What

Curious Films is going behind the scenes with Boyzone once again, with a one-off film charting the iconic boy band’s comeback London gigs.

Produced for Sky, the 90-minute doc follows the pay-TV giant’s hit Broadcast Digital Awards-winning three-part original Boyzone: No Matter What, which in part led to the band’s reunion and comeback.

One for the Road, the documentary will tail the band as they continue to work through unresolved tensions and unfinished business of their final tour in 2019. This time around, the group want to go out on their own terms.

“Boyzone: No Matter What sparked an extraordinary outpouring of love for the band, and we’re thrilled to be working with Curious again to document this landmark reunion – something that may never have happened had the boys not approached telling their story with such honesty and candid testimony,” said Sky’s head of documentary commissioning Hayley Reynolds.

One for the Road is directed by Caroline Sciama and exec produced by Curious Films’ Dov Freedman and Charlie Russell.

Freedman added: “The response to the series was incredible, breaking records for the Sky Docs team. I think audiences really engaged in a celebrity doc with such raw truth and honesty.”

The film is commissioned by Phil Edgar-Jones, executive director, unscripted originals at Sky for Cécile Frot-Coutaz, chief advertising and content officer, Sky and chief executive office, Sky Studios. The commissioning editor for Sky is Jo Hughes.
