Andy Burnham to deliver keynote address at Mythos Manchester in June

A new film and TV industry event that champions northern talent is launching in Manchester this June, with Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham delivering a keynote address.

Carrying the tagline ’where story meets revolution’, Mythos Manchester will celebrate Northern and working-class cinema and television, bringing together industry voices from film, television, culture and commerce as well as film financiers, investors and brands for a day of discussion and networking.

The event aims to drive investment in talent from the region and strengthen the North’s position as a creative powerhouse.

Earlier this week, the Liverpool Film Office released data that the fellow North-west city had boosted its local economy by £150m since 2019 via more than 1,600 film and TV productions and created more than 5,000 jobs.

Mythos Manchester will take place on Thursday 11 June 2026 at the ABC Building at Quay Street in the city’s creative district.

The event’s co-founder Rachel McClelland said the ambition is “to connect the incredible creative talent in the North with the people and investment needed to bring stories to life”.

She added: “We want this to be a space where filmmakers, producers, investors and brands can come together to have honest conversations, build relationships and shape a more sustainable future for regional screen production. Celebrating the rich history of Northern storytelling, while opening doors for new voices, is at the heart of what we’re trying to achieve.”

The event is also inviting filmmakers who have completed a feature-length scripted or non-scripted film to express interest in screening their work in the event programme.
