On-set, three-day VP demo from SMPTE and 80six

VP demo 80sixSMPTE and 80six, leading video technology company and virtual production system integrator, are hosting a hybrid, three-day event to demonstrate in-person the real-time technologies used for ICVFX (in-camera VFX) and virtual production (VP).

The event takes place at ETC (Electronic Theatre Controls, Victoria Road, London) from 2-4 February, with in-person demo slots available to book - each 90-min, 4 slots per day, 15 tickets.

80six has teamed up with SMPTE, the association of media professionals, technologists, and engineers, to facilitate a series of virtual production demos in support of their On-Set Virtual Production Initiative, with industry experts collaborating to establish system interoperability, workflows, training and best practices for new content creation technologies.

This is a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the intricacies of on-set virtual production in the context of a mixed reality set-up within a ‘pop-up’ LED Volume built by the team behind Virtual Production Studios by 80six at ETC Playhouse in West London.

The team at 80six will give a tour of the VP workflow for creating in-camera VFX (ICVFX), supported by cutting-edge technologies from their own inventory: ROE Visual, Unreal Engine, Mo-sys camera tracking and Disguise media servers.

Lighting a production when using LED backdrops is a hot topic under debate right now, given the lighting aspect of the LED itself. As part of this showcase, attendees will have the opportunity to discover the ground-breaking fos/4 range of luminaires from ETC that introduced a patented deep red emitter into the LED array - a must-see for the technologically-savvy and those with a passion and interest in lighting and colour.

If you cannot make it in person, you can join virtually from anywhere…
