Mothership Productions wins C4 commission
Kelly Webb-Lamb’s newly-launched Mothership Productions has won its first commission with Channel 4, Around the World in Eighty Weighs.
Thee 6 x 60 format explores the global obesity crisis, as it follows various people who want to lose weight travelling the world to better understand the relationship between food, culture and body size, and in the process see if they can lose weight along the way.
Alisa Pomeroy, head of documentaries said: “‘global obesity is one of the unseen world-wide crises of our time, and we are delighted to be working with Mothership on their first commission for Documentaries, tackling such an important topic.”
Gilly Greenslade, director of programmes at Mothership and exec producer on the new series, added: “We are really excited to be working with the c4 docs dept on a show that takes a fresh and revealing approach to a really big subject all over the world”
Mothership was launched this summer by Kelly Webb-Lamb, Gilly Greenslade and Charlotte Desai. The trio's previous credit for the broadcaster include Bake Off, The Dog House, The Apprentice, Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds, Hunted and The Undateables.
