ITV”s Maigret gears up to film Series 2
The second series of ITV”s period drama Maigret is preparing to film in mid-November with the production once again mainly located in Budapest.
The Hungarian capital doubles for 1950s Paris in the show, which stars Rowan Atkinson as the lugubrious titular detective.
The first series saw the production team film only a brief stint in Paris itself, as the Danube was not the of the right dimensions for the setting of certain scenes.
The drama was recommissioned before the second feature-length episode of the first pair of films, Maigret”s Dead Man, has aired.
The second tranche once again comprises two x 120 minute films, with the first based on Georges Simenon”s novel Night At The Crossroads – written by Stewart Harcourt. Guy Andrews is penning the second film.
The shoot will run for three months, divided into two blocks. Although there will be a large amount of local Hungarian crew attached, several UK HoDs are also on board – log into PI for details.
The executive producers of Maigret are Barnaby Thompson, John Simenon, Stewart Harcourt and Jeremy Gwilt; the latter also produces.
