The company was founded in 1983 and originally housed in the Royal Victoria Patriotic Asylum building in Trinity Road Wandsworth, hence the name.

Asylum has produced and engineered some of the best Models and Special Effects in Film and Television over the last 41 years. Additionally we are world-renowned for high-end production of working models for the Medical, Fashion, TV, Film, Military, Aerospace and Automotive Industries.

We occupy a 17,000 sqft workshop near Wimbledon and have tailored this to suit our requirements. It is within easy walking distance of Earlsfield train station and Wimbledon Park tube.

We provide ultra high-end model making, costume fabrication, engineering, pre-viz design, prosthetics and physical effects. Our departments include Artwork and CAD, 3D Printing Lab, CNC Workshop, Engineering Workshop, Composite Workshop, Woodwork, Paint Lab, Paint Booth, Softec Department and Effects Test Yard. Some of our key equipment includes a 5-Axis Robotic CNC system, 3-Axis CNC Systems, FDM 3D Print Systems, Resin 3D Print Systems and Polyjet 3D Print Systems.

The Asylum Team has over 300 years of combined experience in delivering products and projects – using a wide variety of processes and materials. Fine jewellery to industrial mechanical systems to Costumes – we’ve done it all. Whether an exhibition booth or Film set design for short-term usage or Models designed to last for years – Asylum has the know-how and track record to make it happen.

We also have a large range of equipment for hire such as fans, water tanks, smoke machines, glass ovens and rain rigs.

We are operating with a full time crew of 24, who are regularly supported by a pool of trusted freelance specialists when required. Asylum’s ethos is to supply work of the highest quality and a back up service that sets the benchmark standard that others can only aspire to.
