Comedian Amy Gledhill creates and stars in the series

I May Destroy You outfit Various Artists Ltd (VAL) is working up a full series of its comedy blap Toads for Channel 4, our sister title Broadcast has learned.

Toads, which was nominated for a Broadcast Digital Award last year, follows Amber, who has kissed many frogs before finding her prince, but on the day of her wedding she questions whether she has really found the one.

It is created by and stars comedian Amy Gledhill, who will appear in the upcoming second series of Amazon Prime Video’s LOL: Last One Laughing.

C4 is judicious about which of its Blaps are taken through to series and Broadcast understands Toads is being prepped with senior comedy execs, but has not yet been greenlit by the broadcaster.

If commissioned for a full run, it will follow a string of C4 comedies which originated as Blaps, including upcoming series Break Clause (BBC Studios Comedy) and Stepping Up (Roughcut Television) , last year’s Pushers (Merman), Stath Lets Flats (Roughcut), Chewing Gum (Retort) and We Are Lady Parts (Working Title).

VAL is behind current BBC sitcoms Juice and Such Brave Girls and is in production with Michaela Coel’s latest BBC1/HBO series First Day on Earth.
