Trainspotting 2 backed by Creative Scotland
With just a few weeks to go until principal photography gets underway on the Trainspotting sequel, Creative Scotland has confirmed it has provided financial support for the film.
A report in The Scotsman says that the organisation has provided finance to the tune of up to £500,000.
The body runs several different funding programmes, and last year launched the Production Growth Fund – the specific division which has awarded the money to Danny Boyle”s film – which aims to lure filmmakers and TV producers to base their major projects in Scotland.
The pot stood at £1.75m at the time of the announcement, made by Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop last September, and is made up of £1m from Creative Scotland and £750,000 from the Scottish Government.
Boyle”s feature reunites the four main characters from the now-iconic original, and is utilising locations including Glasgow and Edinburgh.
