The next feature from The Lobster director Yorgos Lanthimos is gearing up for a London shoot next spring.

Set to star Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz, The Favourite takes an in-depth look at the politics and power struggles behind the scenes at the court of Queen Anne (Colman), the last of the Stuart monarchs who reigned for five years at the start of the eighteenth century.

The feature reunites Lanthimos with his producers on The Lobster, Element Films’ Ed Guiney and Lee Magiday and Scarlet Films’ Ceci Dempsey.

From 19 November, PI subscribers can log into the site for more on The Favourite, including shoot dates, line producer, casting director, production designer and location manager.

Busy-as-ever Colman is currently filming offbeat comedy Flowers for Channel 4, and will be back on Broadchurch duty when the third series gets up and running next summer.  

Weisz’ schedule is packed too: she begins filming Denial in early December with Tom Wilkinson, and later next year is due to star in the big screen adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier’s My Cousin Rachel for director Roger Michell.
