Elizabeth is Missing producer unveils new identity

STV Studios scripted label STV Studios Drama has rebranded to Blackhill.

The company, which is known for dramas The Witness (Netflix), the BBC’s Elizabeth is Missing and Channel 4’s prison series Screw, has updated its brand to ‘reflect the evolution of their output and identity’, according to a press statement.

The name Blackhill is inspired by the TV transmitting station that has carried stories across Scotland for generations. The producer has offices in both Glasgow and London and makes scripted television for UK and international audiences.

Blackhill’s creative director Sarah Brown said: “We set out to create an identity that truly reflects who we are now – our personality, our vision and our ambition. Blackhill is a drama studio dedicated to bold, emotionally rich storytelling and unforgettable characters.

“We are proud of STV drama’s heritage, but now is the time to refresh our brand to better position us for the future and for the stories we want to tell from Scotland and beyond.”

Alongside Sarah Brown in the Blackhill team are Claire Armspach, director of drama development, Sara Hamill, director of production, script editor Andy Daniel, development coordinator Jennifer Lowe, production executive Katy Engels and drama assistant Hattie Byrne. STV Studios is headed up by chief executive David Mortimer.

Other scripted labels in the STV Studios portfolio include Two Cities Television, Tod Productions and new addition Ferryman Films, founded by Grey’s Anatomy star Kevin McKidd.
