Silent Witness begins filming at new West Midlands studio base
Silent Witness previously filmed at a west London studio
Filming begins this week (w/c 13 January) on the 29th series of Silent Witness, marking the first time the BBC flagship drama is shooting at a West Midlands studio.
The Bond is a multi-functional space in Birmingham’s creative hub, Digbeth, close to Steven Knight’s Digbeth Loc. Studios. It has several multi-functional spaces that are regularly used as production offices (or can be adapted as smaller studios), plus a studio called Retort House, where Silent Witness will set up home.
Channel 4 entertainment show, Late Night Lycett, was also filmed at the facility. Lycett and Knight are vocal champions of their home turf as an under-tapped area of screen talent, with Digbeth becoming a growing central hub for creatives and production in the Birmingham/West Midlands area.
Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders feature has been filming in the West Midlands, with DI Ray and Man Like Mobeen also making their base there.
