Sharon Rooney and Emmett J. Scanlan play clashing detectives in 5 thriller
Clapperboard drama already in production
Clapperboard’s latest drama for 5 centres on a detective’s quiet local policing life that’s upended when they’re forced to investigate a mysterious murder.
Six-part thriller An Impossible Way to Die follows DS Katie Salter (Barbie’s Sharon Rooney) as the contented detective solving everyday crimes until four people are found dead round a dinner party table with only one clue: a scorpion crawling out of one of the victim’s mouths.
Salter is partnered with lead investigator DI Niall Conway (MobLand’s Emmett J. Scanlan) on the case. Salter’s measured approach clashes with Conway’s all-consuming dedication to the job.
As the case continues to confound secrets are unearthed, conspiracies emerge and lives are put at risk as the detectives race to reveal the killer.
Further confirmed cast includes Lois Chimimba (Cold Water), Jonny Lavelle (Riches) and Ashley McGuire (This Country).
The series was commissioned for 5 by deputy chief content officer Sebastian Cardwell and is exec produced by Clapperboard managing director Mike Benson and Myf Hopkins for Clapperboard Studios. It is produced by Amber Howorth and Adam Wimpenny joins as director.
An Impossible Way to Die is in production and will air on 5 in 2027.
