Written by comedian Jimmy Carr, the film marks his screenwriting feature debut alongside Patrick Carr and the Dawson Brothers

Filming begins in the north-west today, 1 November, on Fackham Hall, a period-drama spoof.

Shooting is taking place in various north-west locations, including Liverpool, with a cast headed by Ben Radcliffe, Damian Lewis, Tom Felton, Thomasin McKenzie, Emma Laird and Katherine Waterston.

Fackham Hall is set to parody the conventions of pieces such as Downton Abbey and Gosford Park. Jim O’Hanlon is attached to direct; the producers include Kris Thykier and Danny Perkins under their joint production banner Mews Films, a new production label housed within Archery Pictures, and Mila Cottray for Two & Two Pictures.

Producers Thykier, Perkins and Cottray stated, “We’re thrilled to kick off filming on what promises to be a hilarious, quintessentially British comedy caper. With this stellar cast and a razor-sharp script that only Jimmy Carr (alongside the brilliant Dawson Brothers) could have dreamed up, this film will be a riot, combining wit, irreverence, and a love for the absurd, from start to finish. We can’t wait to bring this unique spoof to life and, ultimately, to audiences everywhere!”

Last year O’Hanlon said of the feature: “Fackham Hall is that rarest of rare hen’s teeth – a genuinely funny, fiendishly clever period comedy which even on the page makes you snort your tea out of several orifices at once, whilst still making you care hugely for the young couple at the centre of all the madness.“

The feature is produced by Mews Films, that is part of Archery Pictures. Archery Pictures launched Mews Films four years ago, in partnership with Elysian Film Group, with the aim of nurturing comedy features for the UK theatrical market.
