Pamela Anderson to film Sally Potter feature in the UK

The film centres on secrets that are exposed when a family gathers to scatter their mother’s ashes
Pamela Anderson will star in Sally Potter’s Alma, set to shoot in the UK later this year with Dakota Fanning and Lindsay Duncan.
Filming is due to take place in England from September this year, with a supporting cast including Arinzé Kene, Esther McGregor, Esmé Creed-Miles and Earl Cave.
The story centres on an extended family that meets to scatter their mother’s ashes, only to find her continued haunting presence blows open – sometimes comically – secrets of their lives.
Potter directs from her own screenplay; Christopher Sheppard of Adventure Pictures and Rebecca O’Brien of Sixteen Films produce.
Co-producers on the project are Les Films d’Antoine, under the direction of Antoine Simkine, in France and Komplizen, led by producers Jona Dornbach, Janine Jackowski and Maren Ade in Germany. Stephen Kelliher serves as executive producer for Bankside Films.
Potter said: “Looking for the alchemical mix of great screen presences to bring a script into vivid life can feel like a treasure hunt. Three of the cinematic jewels now set to be at the centre of the cast of ALMA are Pamela Anderson, Dakota Fanning and Lindsay Duncan…three brilliant actors I have wanted to work with for some time.
“Their remarkable individual qualities will combine with, amongst others, Arinzé Kene and three exciting young actors: Esther McGregor, Esmé Creed-Miles and Earl Cave.”
Potter has written and directed nine feature films, having come from a background of choreography, music, performance art and experimental film. Her most recent feature, The Roads Not Taken, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 2020.
Bankside Films is handling worldwide sales for Alma, and will be introducing it to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival next month.
