Ollie Madden speaks at event in London next month

Ollie Madden, head of UK film at Netflix, has joined the speaker lineup for this year’s Screen Summit, ‘Financing the future of UK film’, taking place at the BFI Southbank in London on September 29.

Madden will participate in a session called ‘Future Thinking: the bold ideas to transform the UK film sector’, which will bring together industry decision-makers and thought-leaders for an interactive debate with the audience.

Further speakers for this session will be announced in the coming weeks.

Madden joined Netflix in October 2025. He was previously director of Film4 and Channel 4 drama, overseeing an annual budget of £25m for the production and development of UK films including Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things,  Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone Of Interest, Andrew Haigh’s All Of Us Strangers  and Molly Manning Walker’s How To Have Sex.

The sessions will cover a range of topics, including: why the UK film sector is a worthwhile investment for private investors; how filmmakers can structure projects to appeal to global brands and collaborate with the rising generation of content creators; strategies for producers to make the most of budgets and structure production financing;  detailed case studies of financing indie films and working with UK studio facilities.
