Netflix confirms Lena Dunham ex-pat rom-com Too Much

Too MuchNetflix has confirmed that production will begin next year on Too Much, a new rom-com created by Lena Dunham and starring Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe (pictured).

Dunham has written the 10 x 30’ show with her husband Luis Felber; Production Intelligence subscribers were the first to hear about the new commission back in May this year.

Working Title Television produces alongside Dunham’s Good Thing Going. The series will also feature original music from Felber; Dunham directs with Camilla Bray producing. The executive producers are Dunham, Felber, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Michael P. Cohen, Surian Fletcher-Jones and Bruce Eric Kaplan.

Too Much centres on Jessica (Stalter), a thirty-something New York workaholic who moves to London reeling from a broken relationship. Having planned to live a life of solitude there, she meets Felix (Sharpe) and finds their unusual connection hard to shake.

Co-creator, writer and director Dunham said: “This is a show that is very close to my heart –  created with my husband Luis, cast with my favourite actors – the geniuses that are Meg and Will, along with a bevy of friends – and partnering again with Working Title, who are behind the romantic comedies that formed me.

“Netflix has been so deeply supportive of the vision, which is to create a romantic comedy that makes us root for love, brings joy but also has the jagged edges of life.”
