Natalie Dormer will star alongside Assaad Bouab in the six-part thriller

Game of Thrones actor Natalie Dormer will star with Call My Agent’s Assaad Bouab in a new Welsh/French, six-part thriller, Minotaur.

Set to shoot in north Wales and Paris later this year, Minotaur is written by Mad As Birds’ Celyn Jones, who will direct alongside Charles Sturridge.

The drama centres on cold-blooded killer Luc, who escapes the criminal underbelly of Paris and lands in north Wales, where he meet single mother and struggling addict Angel (Dormer). Just as the initial attraction grows stronger, and the pair starts to see a fresh start ahead, Luc looks set to be dragged back into a dangerous underworld…

Nadia Jaynes and Sean Marley produce for Mad As Birds. Executive producers are Nicola Pearcey for Picnik Entertainment and Fields Park Productions. The six part returning series is being sold by Sphere Abacus with co-production and finance partners, Media Musketeers.

Jones said: “I have always admired Natalie Dormer and the work she creates, a brilliant, intelligent firebrand that will add so much depth to the role and series. It is a thrill to work together and the pairing of her and Assaad Bouab has the hallmarks of an iconic screen duo.

“This story has been swimming around my dreams for a long time, A Welsh/French noir thriller with an international appeal, so you can imagine how strong it is for me to watch it materialise with this incredible team… I think audiences are going to love it.”

Mad As Birds recently wrapped production in Anglesey, Caernarfon and Pwllheli on Madfabulous, starring Callum Scott Howells as flamboyant late-19th century aristocrat Henry Cyril Paget.
