The Matt Lucas Awards is returning for a second series on BBC 1.

Ordered by BBC1 controller Danny Cohen and Cheryl Taylor, controller, comedy commissioning, recording of the Matt Lucas Awards will start this autumn.

The series will feature celebrity guests providing nominations in a number of weird and wonderful categories, the winners of which receive a Lucas award. Guests in the first series included Ruth Jones, Richard Madeley, Johnny Vegas & David Baddiel.

Averaging 1.9m viewers over its first run, the Matt Lucas Awards was series produced by Ashley Blaker, produced by Richard Grocock and was a co-production between John Stanley Productions & BBC In-house Comedy Production.
