Kudos backs West Midlands indie
Banijay UK label continues to bolster Midlands’ scripted production hub by investing in Senti Films
Peaky Blinders label Kudos is further bolstering the West Midlands’ scripted production scene by investing in Birmingham-based Senti Films.
The production company is run by writer, producer and director Rem Conway, who has been spent the past three years as a development producer with Kudos Knight, the Banijay label’s creative partnership with Steven Knight in the West Midlands.
Conway will continue with Kudos Knight while developing Senti’s slate of TV, film, theatre and digital projects that champion underrepresented local voices.
Kudos will accelerate Senti’s growth and co-produce any greenlit scripted projects.
Conway’s past credits including Netflix’s Sex Education, BBC2’s My Name is Leon and ITV1’s Our House.
The Kudos Knight partnership was designed to help generate a drama production pipeline from the West Midlands to nurture local talent and invest in skills and training in the area.
“Rem is a hugely talented producer, who is doing brilliant work in developing Kudos Knight’s slate, and we want to simultaneously support his own creative ambitions in the region,” said Kudos’ co-managing director Martin Haines.
Conway added: “Senti was built to offer a creative home to talent where they are genuinely trusted, backed and given the freedom to be ambitious. Too often, I’ve witnessed incredible voices held back by a lack of access and long-term support, and we all so desperately want to see a more inclusive industry.”
Senti Films currently has a project in funded development with a major broadcaster.
