The as-yet-untitled film is the director’s first feature since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

JJ Abrams is in pre-production at a UK studio on his next feature, starring Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega and Emma Mackey.

The as-yet-untitled film is under wraps plot-wise; it is produced by Abrams’ Bad Robot for Warner Bros.

Abrams is calling the shots from his own screenplay – it is his first time back in the director’s chair since since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, that he also co-wrote, in 2019.

It was widely reported at the end of last year that Samuel L Jackson was in talks to board the new project.

Powell has been in the UK since late autumn, filming his starring role in Paramount’s new iteration of The Running Man, adapted from Stephen King’s book and co-starring Josh Brolin, Katy O’Brian, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones and William H. Macy.
