Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous), Geoff McGivern (Peep Show, Armstrong And Miller), and Bryony Hannah (Call The Midwife) are to feature in a new BBC Comedy: Dead Boss, to air on BBC Three.

Written by Sharon Horgan and Holly Walsh, Dead Boss stars Horgan as Helen Stephens, a woman who has never done anything wrong apart from the time she was stopped for drink driving (she thought Sangria was Spanish for Fanta). So when she finds herself falsely imprisoned for murdering her boss she is sure it is only a matter of time before this mistake is sorted and she is back to her old life. However, everyone around Helen seems to be conspiring to keep her on the inside for one reason or another…

Jennifer Saunders stars as Margaret, the governor of Broadmarsh Prison, while McGivern plays her hapless lawyer.

Filming is underway with the series due to air on BBC Three in Spring. It was commissioned by Zai Bennett, Controller BBC Three and Cheryl Taylor, Controller Comedy Commissioning. It is made by BBC In-House Comedy Productions and exec producer is Jo Sargent. The director is Steve Bendelack; producer Caroline Norris.
