ITV1 Secures David Tennant For Detective Drama
David Tennant will star in a new detective drama for ITV1 called Broadchurch.
The eight-part series, which starts filming this summer, is being produced by Kudos Film and Television and written by Chris Chibnall (Doctor Who and Torchwood).
Tennant will play DI Alec Hardy, a newly promoted detective who arrives in a seaside town to investigate the death of a young boy. However, there is friction with a local colleague who believes she should have been handed the case.
Broadchurch has been commissioned for ITV1 by Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes. Haynes says: “Broadchurch tells the story of a small community and the devastating emotional repercussions for everyone caught up in the death of a young boy. It”s not a whodunit or a traditional police drama.”
The drama will be filmed on location near Bristol and Dorset.
