House of the Dragon is once again based at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and will also take in European locations

Production on the third and penultimate series of HBO Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon gets underway this week (31 March), with some filming also taking place in European locations.

The drama is once again based at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden; chancellor of the exchequer Rachel Reeves met executive producer Kevin de la Noy during a recent tour of the site, to tie in with the announcement of the business rates relief for studios.

Last summer, showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal confirmed during a press conference that the show would conclude with Season 4.

House of the Dragon has taken in a vast swathe of UK locations, including Dinorwig Quarry, Eryri (formerly known as Snowdonia); Penmon Point, Anglesey; Holywell Beach, Cornwall; Castleton in Derbyshire and Aldershot, Hampshire.

When Series 2 was in production, it provided training and placement opportunities for those at various stages of their screen careers, as part of programmes developed by the High-End TV (HETV) Skills Fund.
