The drama comes from Nicola Shindler’s Quay Street Productions with filming taking place in Manchester and the north-west

Filming begins imminently in Manchester and the north west on Harlan Coben’s Run Away for Netflix, starring James Nesbitt, Ruth Jones and Minnie Driver.

With Alfred Enoch, Lucian Msamati, Jon Pointing, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Annette Badland, Finty Williams and Joe McGann also among the large cast, the limited thriller series is from Quay Street Productions and will be delivered as an 8 x 60’ run.

The lead writer is Danny Brocklehurst, who exec produces alongside Coben (through his Final Twist Productions banner), Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee. Guy Hescott is series producer; Will McDonagh produces. Charlotte Coben is associate producer.

Simon (Nesbitt) seems to have the perfect life, until his eldest daughter runs away. When he finds her, strung out on drugs in a city park, he finally gets the chance to take her home and keep her safe.

But she is not alone, and an argument becomes horribly violent. In the aftermath, Simon loses his daughter all over again, and his search to find her takes him into a dangerous underworld.

As with previous Coben adaptations, the story setting is relocated from the US to the UK. Coben said of the casting news: “Jimmy Nesbitt, Ruth Jones, Alfred Enoch, Lucian Msamati and Minnie Driver – the cast is an embarrassment of riches. I can’t wait to start filming.”

Brocklehurst added: “It’s an enormous pleasure to be reteaming with Netflix, Harlan and the amazing Quay Street Productions team to produce another twisty thriller. Fool Me Once’s phenomenal success has set a high bar but with Run Away’s emotionally universal storyline and great cast, hopefully we can give audiences another fantastic ride”.

Run Away is one of 13 titles from Coben produced for Netflix, with the recent Missing You and Fool Me Once also from Quay Street.
