Filming gets underway at Pinewood Studios on Monday, 29 July on Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

Pascal released a photo on his Instagram page of the four leads as well as a shot of director Matt Shakman, just ahead of cameras rolling.

Producer Kevin Feige confirmed the principal-photography start date on The Official Marvel Podcast last month; he also appeared to verify that the film is a period piece, set in the 1960s, a time-setting hinted at in artwork released by the studio in February this year.

Pascal plays Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Kirby is Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Quinn plays Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch), and Moss-Bachrach is Ben Grimm (the Thing).

Ralph Ineson, Julia Garner. Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne and John Malkovich are among the supporting cast.

The Fantastic Four is the first film featuring the four superheroes since Marvel acquired Fox in 2019, which meant Marvel also then became home to the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters.
