Untitiled documentrary will feature insiders and participants of controversial Fox title

Early 00s makeover series The Swan is the subject of an upcoming documentary film from Expectation for Hulu.

The Swan aired on Fox for two series from 2004 and is considered one of the most controversial reality series of all time due to the extensive use of plastic surgery as part of the makeovers it gave its participants.

Expectation’s untitled film promises to pull the curtain back on the series and will feature the people who made it and the women whose lives were forever changed by it.

Colin Barr will exec produce for Expectation with the doc produced and directed by Erin Lee Carr, who previously worked with Hulu on docuseries Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini, Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara, and Trophy Wife: Murder on Safari. She also co-created the scripted series Murdaugh: Death in the Family.

The deep dive into reality series of the past is becoming something of a trend with Expectation’s doc following on from the success of Netflix’s recent exposé Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model.
