Carnival films two dramas in Hungary

Carnival Films is gearing up for shooting on two major dramas, both of which are deep in pre-production in Hungary.

The second series of BBC2”s historical drama The Last Kingdom is currently setting up, with filming due to take place mainly in Budapest. Set in the ninth century AD, the story is based on Bernard Cornwell”s The Saxon Stories series of novels.

Much of the crew returns from the first series, with several UK HoDs on board the five-month shoot. As with the first season, many Hungarian crew members are also involved in the hefty production. For more on UK hires and the start date, log into the project on Production Intelligence.

UK crew are also Hungary-bound for Jamestown, from author Bill Gallagher. Little is known about the drama, which comprises eight episodes for Sky 1, but on PI you can find details of the director, producer and casting director, as well as the shoot date. As with The Last Kingdom, many Hungarian crew members are also being used.

Production Intelligence covers international shoots as well as UK-based projects, as long as a significant amount of UK crew is involved. For a free demo request, click here.
