Cannes 2012: Ken Loach, Michael Haneke and Matteo Garrone
Sunday night saw wins at Cannes for Ken Loach, Michael Haneke and Matteo Garrone.
Austrian director Michael Haneke won the Cannes Film Festival’;s Palme d’;Or for a second time in four years. Having previously triumphed with The White Ribbon, the 65th edition of the Festival saw him pick up the top prize for Amour, about an octogenarian couple trying to cope with the wife’;s worsening health.
Second prize, better known as the Grand Prize went to Matteo Garrone for Reality, the story of a Naples fishmonger obsessed with reality TV, while Ken Loach‘;s comedy The Angels’; Share secured the Jury Prize.
Among other key awards, Carlos Reygadas was named best director for his Mexican film Post Tenebras Lux.
