Cameras roll on Heartstopper 3 for Netflix

HeartstopperThe third series of Heartstopper begins filming for Netflix this week, with shooting due to run for three months.

See-Saw Films produces the show, having acquired the rights in 2019; showrunner Alice Oseman adapts her own webcomic and graphic novel of the same name.

Our sister site, Broadcast, today (2 October) reported that The Light in the Hall helmer Andy Newbery has joined the third series as lead director.

The story centres on a love story between two schoolboys, Charlie and Nick, and was an instant hit for the streamer, making the top ten of most-watched English-language series within just two days of landing on the platform.

The drama has won critical acclaim for its portrayal of LGBT characters, garnering many awards and nominations, and has reached Netflix’ top ten in 54 countries.

The E-ACT Burnham Park Academy, which closed officially in 2019, hosted filming on the first series, with other scenes filming on locations including Herne Bay in Kent, Windsor and Slough.
