Bristol continues to attract major dramas

A new BBC Three drama series begins filming soon in Bristol, the latest in a steady stream of high-profile TV dramas and films to head to the city.

Thirteen is an original 5-parter written by Marnie Dickens, and is produced in-house at the BBC. The psychological drama centres on Ivy Moxham, a young woman about to escape from the cellar that has been her prison for thirteen years.

Dickens said of the project – her first original series commission – “I’ve always been fascinated by the resilience of the human spirit in even the most extreme situations and am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this story to life on the BBC.”

Elizabeth Kilgariff executive produces, fresh from overseeing the two-part Luther special earlier this year. Shoot dates on Thirteen are listed on Production Intelligence, along with key hires including producer, production designer, line producer, location manager and production co-ordinator.

Make sure you’re also following The Pyramid Woman, another shiny new drama recently confirmed exclusively by Production Intelligence, also likely to shoot in Bristol, although locations have yet to be confirmed. The show is a one-off about the real events surrounding the conviction last year of several Bristol women who operated a “pyramid” scheme in which thousands of people lost money. We hope to confirm plenty more details on this one soon.
