Boomerang Plus Unveils Welsh Gorilla

Wales-based Boomerang Plus has completed a restructuring process that it claims will create one of the UK’;s largest TV facilities services businesses.

The restructuring brings together Boomerang’;s in-house post production and technical with Mwnci, their TV Post-Production arm that specialised in editing Film and Video for broadcast facilities. The newly created group will be re-branded Gorilla.

Gorilla, with around 50 staff, will be based in three premises in Cardiff. It will provide studios, dubbing, grading, graphics and OB facilities to programme-makers and producers in addition to increasing its established range of editing services. Bringing together these businesses under the name of Gorilla creates the biggest TV facilities provider in Wales and one of the UK’;s largest outside of London.

The team at Gorilla has helped post-produce titles such as Bruce Parry’;s Amazon and Arctic, Grandpa in my Pocket, Time Team and Whites. Management believes that the enlarged group is better positioned to attract more customers. “Over the years we’;ve been an industry leader in Post Production and this expansion will enable us to offer an improved facilities package to our existing clients as well as giving us a strong base to attract new work,” said Richard Moss, managing director of Gorilla. “Having many parts of the production workflow handled by one facility will bring real benefits to producers.”
