Beyond Paradise 2 returns to film in Devon and Cornwall

Beyond Paradise 2 220Production has begun in the West Country on the second series of the BBC’s Death in Paradise spin-off, Beyond Paradise. 

The second run comprises 6 x 60’ episodes plus a Christmas special and will film for around four months with Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton returning to head the cast. 

Set in the fictional Devon town of Shipton Abbott, the series films in various locations in the West Country, with much of it shot in the coastal town of Looe, Cornwall

Created by Robert Thorogood and Tony Jordan, Beyond Paradise is a co-commission between the BBC and BritBox International and is produced by Red Planet Pictures, part of the Asacha Media Group. Series One garnered an audience of around 8.7 million viewers (BBC all-screens 30-day figure for Episode One).

Founder and executive chairman of Red Planet Pictures, Tony Jordan, is showrunner, leading a team of writers – Kat Rose-Martin, Ian Jarvis and Rebecca Wojciechowski. Jordan also exec produces alongside Tim Key and Belinda Campbell for Red Planet Pictures, Jenny Frayn for BBC and Reemah Sakaan for BritBox International. 

Exec producer Key said at the time of the recommissioning news: “We’ve been blown away by the audience response to the show and are so happy that people have taken it to their hearts. We can’t wait to get our amazing cast back together to continue the story – and to be able to pay a visit to Shipton Abbott at Christmas is even better.”
