BBCS and UKTV alumni join 5 senior management
Operations and finance execs board broadcaster’s top team
5 has tweaked its management team, with BBC Studios exec Angela Muddle and former UKTV staffer Simon Brown joining the business.
Brown will take up the role as senior vice-president for strategy, operations and growth, while Muddle has been appointed to the newly created position of senior vice-president of finance, international networks.
Brown’s responsibilities will largely replace the work of former senior-vice president and chief operating officer of content and studios UK James Tatam, who left the business this summer. Following Tatam’s departure, production and programming operations, which is led by Kerri Garson, will report into chief content officer Ben Frow.
Brown will work closely with 5’s president Reemah Sakaan to develop the business’s growth strategy, particularly its transition to streaming. He will also work in lockstep with Rikard Jast and Hem Chander in the international strategy team. 5’s vice-president of distribution Kiaran Saunders will report into Brown.
Most recently, Brown was a partner at technology consultancy Blue Hat Associates and has previously served as chief of strategy, customer and new growth at UKTV and BBCS UK.
Muddle will work across both Paramount’s international free-to-air channels, 5 and Network10 in Australia as well as the international pay networks. She will be based in London and report into Sonia Endler, Paramount’s head of finance, global content distribution.
At BBCS she was head of finance for global markets and also held senior finance roles at Turner Broadcasting and A+E Global Media.
Brown will join 5 from next week, while Muddle is relocating from Singapore and will join the team at the end of September.
