BBC Studios appoints scripted production director
Alison Loose promoted into newly-created role
BBC Studios has elevated its head of production for scripted labels Alison Loose into the newly-created role of director of production, scripted.
Loose, who has worked the BBC’s commercial arm since 2024, will now set the production strategy across the whole of the scripted portfolio to meet the needs of an increasingly global landscape.
The role she held previously oversaw BBCS’ scripted labels, but her new role will now also include its units.
Previously, she was head of production at ITV Studios, overseeing scripted productions for broadcasters and international streamers and platforms. Earlier in her career, she held senior production roles at Lime Pictures and CBBC.
She said: “I’ve always believed that great television is created when creative and production teams work in true partnership, and I’m passionate about enabling talented people to do their best work.
“I’m excited to work with colleagues across the business as we continue to deliver ambitious, world-class scripted content for audiences in the UK and around the world.”
Loose will continue to report to managing director of BBCS Scripted Jamie Hall, the former Vice Studios UK president who took up his BBCS role towards the end of last year. The pair first worked together at Lime Pictures more than 20 years ago.
“Alison’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment for our scripted business as we continue to evolve and build on the success of our world-class production labels in a highly competitive and challenging market.
“She brings exceptional expertise and leadership, since joining us, she has already made a significant impact, and in this new role she will play a crucial part in shaping a unified production strategy that supports creative excellence, drives commercial performance, and ensures we remain competitive in an increasingly global marketplace.”
BBC Studios Scripted is home to the likes of EastEnders, Casualty, Silent Witness, Here We Go and Time and houses labels including Clerkenwell Films, Sid Gentle Films, Baby Cow, Firebird Pictures, Lookout Point and House Productions.
