BBC orders more Ten Pound Poms
Filming begins in a couple of weeks on a second series of Danny Brocklehurst’s Ten Pound Poms starring Michelle Keegan.
Faye Marsay and Warren Brown also reprise their roles in the 1950s-set drama, that is produced by Eleven Film. It centres on a group of Brits leaving grim post-war Britain to embark on a new life in Australia.
Brocklehurst, who also executive produces, said of the recommission: “The positive viewer response to Ten Pound Poms was a true delight. We tapped into a little-known part of our recent history and told stories which reflected the realities of the real Poms that made the trip.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be teaming again with the BBC, Stan and Eleven to continue our characters’ adventure down under.”
Filming will commence in Australia in mid-February. Executive producer and co-founder of Eleven Joel Wilson added: “I fell in love with Australia last season, so I’m delighted to be heading back there with Danny, Faye, Michelle and Warren to reunite with our fabulous director Ana and our wonderful cast and crew, as well as welcoming director Tom McKay into the fold.”
Ten Pound Poms is produced by Eleven and is a co-production between Stan and BBC and on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK. Executive producer for the BBC is Gaynor Holmes, and Cailah Scobie and Donna Chang are executive producers for Stan.
Wilson, Olivia Trench and Jamie Campbell executive produce for Eleven, and Sophie Williams will co-executive produce the series. The producer is Karl Zwicky; the directors are Ana Kokkinos and Tom McKay.
