Air TV launches YouTube channel First Landings

The regional indie to capture trainee pilots in Yorkshire

Air TV has launched its debut YouTube Channel, setting off with a series about trainee pilots.

First Landings will capture the moment the learner aviators land a plane on their own for the first time and is filmed at the same location where Air TV is based, at Leeds East Airport.

The indie has worked with the Yorkshire Aviation Academy on the series, which has been in production for five months. The flights are captured using a bespoke mini camera rig fixed inside each aircraft.

Air TV is known for its long-running UKTV series Bangers & Cash as well as Yorkshire Air 999 and Warplane Workshop, alongside commissions for the BBC and 5.

The YouTube channel marks Air TV’s first move into digital-first series. Managing director Matt Richards said: “We wanted to find an exciting idea that was simple and repeatable, yet captured all of the human emotions which everyone can relate to.”

First Landings will have regular weekly drops on its main videos alongside shorts and other content on the main channel and associated social media channels. There are also plans to add a live stream from the airport to the channel next month.
