Allwright will host the new show in front of a studio audience

5 has announced an expanded daytime line-up for 2026, with a new chat show fronted by BBC regular Matt Allwright and made by ITN Productions.

The show, simply called Matt Allwright, will run from 2.50-2pm Monday to Thursday, with the presenter and journalist exploring the big news stories of the day, with audience interaction and consumer insight.

Allwright said: “I’m delighted to be joining 5’s line-up on a regular basis. We’ll be helping viewers through whatever they might be facing and giving them something that makes them smile. I know how thoughtful and entertaining Channel 5 viewers can be and I’m looking forward to hearing more of their views and stories over the coming months.

5 regular Storm Huntley will be joined from next year by presenter Alexis Conran as co-host of her late-morning show, then to be known as Storm & Alexis. Other current 5 daytime presenters Jeremy Vine and Vanessa Feltz will continue with their daily, weekday slots.

Federico Ruiz, commissioning editor, 5, said: “We are thrilled at next year’s daytime line-up on 5. We’ve put together a presenting family that our viewers love, and we’re excited to give them more of what they want. Where others are cutting back their daytime offerings, we are ramping up.

“There is no substitute for live TV, and our viewers can now stay with the 5 family from their morning tea, through lunch, to school pick up – where they’ll be by far the most informed people at the gates.”

Ian Rumsey, managing director of content, ITN, said: “I’m delighted that our partnership with 5 goes from strength to strength. We’re proud to be entrusted with making more daytime content for them by making shows with their own identities, and the common theme of putting viewers opinions first.”
