1 – Skyfall
You can”t get more iconic than James Bond chasing through a London Tube station.
In pursuit of cyber-terrorist Silva (Javier Barden), 007 (Daniel Craig) sprints through a crowd of commuters, slides down an escalator, jumps on the back of a moving train, and then nearly misses an oncoming train which comes crashing towards him.
Sterling work from location manager James Grant on this film.
Tube: Charing Cross (disused platforms)
FACT: The Underground scenes featured more than 450 cast and crew.
2 – An American Werewolf in London
Nothing captures London Underground”s late night eeriness better than this 1981 classic directed by John Landis.
Late at night, an unsuspecting commuter makes his way out of a desolate Tube station, only to find he”s not alone. Hearing growl after growl, the victim is eventually chased by the werewolf through the empty station”s labyrinth of tunnels.
Primarily shot from the werewolf”s point of view until the end of the chase makes the scene more effective – and even more terrifying.
Tube: Tottenham Court Road.
3 – Sliding Doors
The opening scene on the Underground is a key part of this 1998 romantic-comedy drama film starring Gwyneth Paltrow.
After Paltrow”s character misses her train, the film divides into two plots – what happens after she misses it and another if she hadn”t boarded it.
Tube: Waterloo & City line.
