ITV2 commissions time travel comedy
ITV2 has commissioned a new scripted time travel comedy from Big Talk Productions.
Timewasters comes from Cockroaches writer Daniel Lawrence Taylor, one half of comedy duo Ginger and Black. Taylor wrote the pilot, Blackwards, on which Timewasters is based, filmed in Liverpool earlier this year.
The series centres on a struggling four-piece South London jazz band who travel back in time to the 1920s via the lift in a run-down block of flats. Taylor also stars in the comedy along with Kadiff Kirwan, Adelayo Adedayo and Samson Kayo.
Kenton Allen and Saurabh Kakkar exec produce the 6 x 30 with Josh Cole producing and George Kane directing.
Allen said of the commission: “Daniel Lawrence Taylor’s audacious idea of four time traveling dudes from South London going ‘black to the future’ has been a joy to make from start to finish. It’s a brilliant concept with a cracking cast bringing Daniel’s script to life. As an exciting new sitcom writer/performer DLT has a very promising future via his whip smart exploration of what would happen if we could re-visit the past.”
The series is still in development, but PI subscribers can log in for more on the likely shooting schedule and should follow the project as we will be updating with HoDs as they board.
